Google announced an Android app for Google Offers, its daily deal site. This new app notifies you of offers that match your interests. You can purchase them quickly from your Android phone. This is another step forward in the mobile daily deals space for Google Offers.Android users will find it easier to find bargains this holiday season with the free app Google Offers available at the Android Market. Google released its first national coupon using its Google Offers program on Thursday, pushing out a deal for $25 worth of goods at outdoor retailer REI for $15. According to a blog post from the company, the coupon is good at REI’s online stores or at any of their 120 retail locations across the country.
The coupon is good from Nov. 3, 2011, to April 29, 2012. The REI coupon is good for any user who’s signed up for Google Offers, regardless of whether or not the search giant offers local deals in their area, the company said. Google has been steadily expanding its coupon markets, now pushing out deals in more than 40 major metropolitan areas across the country, including Washington, D.C. The company also released an Offers app for Android.
The Google Offers app is designed to help shoppers discover, buy and redeem deals on the go. Not only can you purchase deals with a few clicks from your droid, but with some merchants, you’ll be able to redeem deals directly from your phone.
The app is designed around four screens, A “Featured” screen that’s the deal of the day. Thursday’s deal, for instance, is a coupon that you buy for $15 that can be redeemed for $25 at REI, an outdoor clothing and equipment retailer. A daily deal notifier, which alerts you about deals. An archive screen where you can see deals that you’ve purchased or saved, as well as deals that have expired. A screen for redeeming offers without printing them.
Initial reviews of the app at the Android Markethave been positive. With more than 130 people weighing in on the software, the app’s garnered an average rating of 4.5 out of a maximum five stars.
