On Friday, October 28, 2011, an earthquake with 6.9 magnitude has struck Peru and make all people panic. The Peru earthquake was not trigger any  tsunami, but still tsunami warning was raised along the coastal areas.

A strong 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck near the coast of central Peru at 1:54 p.m.Friday according to the United States Geological Survey. The capital shook for about 30 seconds in a series of moderate, swaying movements. Several aftershocks followed with magnitudes up to 5.5. Because of this Peru Earthquake at least 20 injuries.

With 20 people were treated for non life-threatening injuries including two for broken bones. This earthquake is considerate less violent in Lima, Peru. No serious damages occurred because of this nature disaster.

No destructive widespread tsunami threat exists based on historical earthquake and tsunami data. However-  with Peru earthquake of this size sometimes generate local tsunami that can be destructive along coasts located within 100 Km of the earthquake epicenter. Authorities in the region of the epicenter should be aware of this possibility and take appropriate action.

The Peru earthquake had a depth of 23.9 km (14.9 miles) and was traced at 14.515°S, 76.009°W.  USGS said the earthquake’s epicenter was 288 km (178 miles) SSE of LIMA, Peru and 51 km (31 miles) SSW of Ica, Peru.

Although this time earthquake not trigger any tsunami and eat much victim and less damage, all the people are panicking while the earthquake struck. They are in fear and rush to go home to see their family condition.
