October 28, is the day when the Statue of Liberty become part of United States of America. She was arrived from France to New York City and now on her 125th birthday, she will welcome her 125 fellow immigrant to be the U.S Citizens.The Statue of Liberty “Liberty Enlightening the World ” is a colossal Neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, designed by Frederic Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France.

The meaning from Statue of Liberty through its look is a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776.

A broken chain lies at her feet is a symbolic feature that people cannot see is the broken chain wrapped around the Statue’s feet. Protruding from the bottom of her robe, the broken chains symbolize her free forward movement, enlightening the world with her torch free from oppression and servitude. The statue has become an icon of freedom and of the United States.

The National Park Service theme for the Statue of Liberty 125th anniversary events is ‘Honor History, Envision the Future.’ The ceremony began with a naturalization ceremony for 125 immigrants from more than 40 countries, who would leave the island as U.S. citizens.

On this 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty’s dedication, webcams have been turned on to let everyone see views of the torch, the crown and the ground below, Ellis Island, a streaming of the harbor from the torch, and a streaming view of the statue from Brooklyn.
